Otago Physics Department Visit.

As part of the Kowhai Team Science Inquiry topic - 'Our Solar System', we had two people from the University of Otago Physics Department come to school to teach us about planets, their moons and also about how rockets worked.

Dr. Ian Whittaker and Aaron Hendry (who is actually an ex Anderson'Bay pupil), did a very spectacular experiment using liquid nitrogen in a huge barrel of water. Everyone had to sit well back and wait! The liquid nitrogen warmed to a gas and exploded. We even had a reporter and photographer from the ODT recording the event and it was in the paper the next day.
